A VIP protection security plan is a comprehensive plan that covers the protected individual and his or her family around the clock, whether at home, at work, or traveling. The higher the profile of an individual, the greater the risks and threats he or she will face, and thus a higher level of protection will be needed. When preparing a security plan for VIPs, all potential threats should be considered. The security team must perform a risk assessment and consider responses to as many situations as humanly possible, for even with their own sources of information, they will never be privy to the type of information to which a state or national protection agent has access. The risk-assessment and security plan must cover all possible scenarios and threats imaginable. The human factor is responsible for the life of the VIP and those who surround him or her. Thus, its selection, security training and supervision must be professional and regularly monitored. The key to an agent's proper response in critical moments is in his or her training; security training that provides the agent with not only necessary tools, but also with motivation, faith and trust in his actions.
