LARGE SCALE EVENTS SECURITY MANAGEMENT - PSOS

Large-scale events such as concerts, sporting events or demonstrations generally take place in large facilities, stadiums, or public grounds. They are usually carried out in coordination with state and local security bodies, including police, firefighter, or army forces, and are oftentimes directed by these security services.

Private security companies are usually found within the inner circle; that is, in the circle that the perpetrator is assumed to never reach. The external, peripheral, municipal circles fall under the responsibility of state security forces, from the intelligence agent to the traffic guard, and are controlled by means of advanced, technological security systems.

The preparation of a security management plan for large-scale security events requires the coordination of the various agencies involved. It encompasses practice and exercises, good judgment, and the ability to make adequate decisions in critical moments.

Event directors should demonstrate qualities of leadership and cool-headedness, characteristics that allow for a professional and efficient response under pressure during these types of events.  These are not necessarily innate characteristics, but rather can be acquired through numerous trainings and exercises. They allow for the efficient assessment and interpretation of the field in the moment of an event.
