HOTEL SECURITY - PSOS |
|
For many countries, the tourist industry provides the area's main source of income. Large hotels act as independent microcosms, with heir own stores, restaurants, cafeterias, gyms, pools, and other facilities where guests, visitors, and administrative, service and technical personnel interact.
In the last decade, terrorist attacks in tourist centers have increased notably. Hotels have become the perfect target for those terrorist groups looking to capture the attention of the international news media community, and damage the economy of a specific area or country. In order to cause damage and harm, explosives are no longer necessary; rather, a terrorist group can, for example, resort to adding toxic material to the food served at the hotel's restaurant. In addition to the threat of terrorism, the hotel security plan should also address criminal or vandalism acts, as well as incidents of public disturbance, violence, and the theft or loss of hotel and/or guest goods. The delicate combination of a hotel's level of alertness and guests' ability to remain calm can prove to be a complicated arrangement. Properly integrating the two bodies requires training and consulting by high-level professionals and experts in physical security and training the human factor. Training should encompass hotel security personnel as well as other staff members whose responsibilities do not directly involve security. A hotel's losses can be controlled, and a calm sense of security can be preserved only through the collective awareness of a hotel's staff as directed by its security department. PSOS's Division of Tourist Security was created in the year 2000 with the objective of responding to the specific needs of the tourist industry. Providing hotel-specific personnel training services, our Division of Hotel Security complements the consulting services and security plans that PSOS has offered the tourist industry since its creation in 1987.
